Alcoholic drinks are great all year round, but in winter when it’s cold, it’s great to warm yourself up whilst drinking them so mulled cider is always a great idea!
Mulled cider is a great alternative to mulled wine (although anything mulled is great in our opinion!) we loved mulled things so much we even made a mulled wine cake!! This recipe calls for a mulling tea bag which we have a recipe for here. You can also pick these up from supermarkets occasionally around this time of year but personally we prefer the homemade ones!
If you want to make this as a kid friendly alternative to normal alcoholic mulled drinks then just replace the cider with more apple juice and leave out the brandy! If you’re making this for a festive party or other occasion a great way to keep it warm without leaving the hob on is by popping it in a slow cooker and leaving it on a low heat. Then simply leave a ladle and some mugs next to it and people can serve themselves!!

- 2 litres dry cider
- 1 litre apple juice
- 100ml brandy
- 100g brown sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4-5 apple slices
- 1 star anise
- 5-6 cloves
- 1 mulling teabag
